Summary

This website publishes software reviews. We keep data collection low. Visitors who consent are measured with analytics, and advertising partners deliver ads and, with consent, personalised ads. We do not sell your contact data. This policy explains what happens, why, and what you can do.

Hosting and server logs (Cloudflare)

The website is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) and its group companies. When you open a page, your browser transmits technical data such as your IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referrer, and browser and device information. This data is processed to deliver the page, to keep the website secure and to protect it against misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and efficient website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare may process data in the USA; transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where applicable.

Cookies and consent

When you first visit, a consent tool shown by our advertising partner may ask you to accept or reject cookies and similar technologies that are not strictly necessary. Without your consent we do not set analytics or advertising cookies where consent is required by law (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25 of the German TDDDG). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with effect for the future through the consent tool, by deleting the cookies in your browser, or by writing to us. Residents of California and other US states can use the same tool, or contact us, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We also respect the Global Privacy Control signal where our partners support it.

Google Analytics

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 and a legacy Google Analytics property of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (Google LLC in the USA). The service uses cookies and similar identifiers to measure how the website is used, for example which pages are read and where visitors come from. The data is used for statistics and to improve the content. Further information is available in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Meta Pixel

With your consent we use the Meta Pixel of Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. The pixel can record visits and actions on this website and transmit them, with identifiers such as cookie data and your IP address, to Meta. This allows us to measure the effect of campaigns and to show relevant ads on Meta platforms. Meta and we may be jointly responsible for part of this processing. Advertising (Mediavine)

This website uses the advertising services of Mediavine, Inc. Mediavine and its partners place and read cookies and use similar technologies to deliver, measure and, with your consent, personalise advertising. This may include your IP address, device identifiers and browsing information on this and other websites. The consent management is provided by Mediavine. Website statistics (Jetpack)

We use the statistics service of Automattic Inc. (60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA) to count page views. The service receives technical data such as the page address and the browser type. Legal basis: your consent where required, otherwise our legitimate interest in understanding the use of the website.

Affiliate links

Links that start with /recommends/ forward you to the website of a software vendor or an affiliate network. When you click, our server answers with a redirect; we do not store a profile of you for this. After the redirect, the vendor or network may set cookies to attribute a possible purchase to us. Their own privacy policies apply from that point. See also the affiliate disclosure in our Terms of Service.

Contact form and email

If you write to us through the form or by email, we process your name, email address and message to answer you (Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The form data is sent to us by email through Cloudflare's email service. We delete messages when the matter is finished, unless statutory retention duties apply.

Search

The site search runs in your browser with a static index. Your search terms are not sent to a search server.

External content and fonts

Fonts are hosted on our own server. External resources are loaded only by the services named in this policy.

Recipients and international transfers

Recipients of data are our service providers named above and, in the case of advertising and analytics, their partners. Some of them are located in the USA or other countries outside the EU. Where required we rely on adequacy decisions (EU-US Data Privacy Framework), standard contractual clauses or your consent (Article 49(1)(a) GDPR).

Storage periods

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and delivery. Cookies have the lifetimes stated by their providers. Contact messages are deleted when they are no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and objection (Article 21). You may withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future. To use your rights, write to hello@cofes.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, for example the authority of your country or place of residence.

Information for residents of California

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) gives you the right to know which personal information is collected, to request deletion and correction, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. Advertising technology can count as a sale or sharing under US law. You can opt out through the consent tool or by writing to hello@cofes.com. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Security

The website is delivered over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The current version is always available on this page.
